Guest guest
Dear Friends, I have just read and signed the petition: Take Action: One Penny More for Worker's Rights http://www.thePetitionSite.com/takeaction/383328675 Hi, I just told Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC: " STOP SUPPORTING WORKER EXPLOITATION! " I just sent an email urging YUM foods to support a living wage for the farmworkers that supply their produce. You can help by joining us in expressing our disapproval. Go to: http://www.care2.com/go/z/12604 Did you know that while global food giants like Taco Bell, KFC, and Pizza Hut rake in massive profits, farm workers labor long hours every day, earning less than ONE PENNY per pound of tomatoes they pick. These workers have no healthcare and no overtime pay. Yet, these food giants demand discounts that can only be covered by a reduction in farm workers' salaries and lack of benefits. To earn just $50 in a day, a farm worker must pick roughly 28 TIMES their own weight in tomatoes (TWO TONS). The Coalition of Immokalee Workers, a farmworker group in Florida, demands that farmworkers be paid one extra penny per pound of tomatoes which would double the daily pay of a farmworker! The people who feed the world should be able to make a living wage that allows them to see a doctor when they need to, live in adequate housing, and have at least a little time to spend with their families! Tell Yum Brands (who owns Taco Bell, KFC, and Pizza Hut) to pay workers fairly for backbreaking labor. SIGN NOW: http://www.care2.com/go/z/12604 Please help by signing this petition.
