Blazing Blenders - K-tec is my choice

I vote for the K-tec & here's why:

1. Motor is 1 1/2 times as powerful as the Vita Mix & it DOES have the

automatic shut off feature (if a fork, for example is stuck in the blender).

The extra power comes in handy for hummus and other hard to blend foods.

2. It will shut off automatically (Imagine your doorbell ringing in the

middle of blending a salad dressing...you go to answer it....you get

distracted, you come back and your dressing is boiling over in your

vita-mix). This would never happen with the K-tec, with it's pre-programmed

cycles which shut off after 30 seconds or so.

3. No tamper is necessary....the K-tec varies it's own speed which ensures

thorough blending. Tampers are just one more thing to clean, and they are

wasteful, absorbing your mixture.

4. Better warranty.

5. Two-blade design of the blender jar is easier to clean and you can get

your blended foods out of the bottom more easily.

Now, I'm a fair-minded guy. There is at least 1 area where the Vita-mix is

better:

but you have to get better than their base model: the speed dial (which is

optional) is preferred by some gourmet rawfood chefs who need to very

precisely blend to a particular consistency. With the K-tec, you do not

have that level of speed granularity. (Actually you do, but it is more

difficult to use).

In Sacramento we have the California State Fair. At our fairs there are at

least 3 Vita-Mix demos going on at all times and usually a couple of K-tec

demos. It is great to see both machines in action this way. Maybe at your

Puyallup Fair they would have the same thing. Shop hard on the web. I

think I got my K-tec for just $299 a couple of years ago. I love it.

It's calling to me now....more hummus & almond milk coming right up.

A regular blender will work for about 40+% of what you will want to do as a

raw chef. But the K-tec & Vita Mix class machines are clearly the serious

Raw Fooder's tools of the trade.
