Sirs,

I am writing to express my strong opposition to the above mentioned rule. It is

my understanding that this rule would permit anyone to rename toxic sewage

sludge biosolids as " compost " without any reference or labeling to identify the

fact that this a product derived from municipal sewage. If sewage is

indiscriminately included in compost, then there is no way to keep it from being

used in raising food crops - including those labeled as organically pure. I am

familiar with the practice of using this sludge for fertilizing ornamental lawns

and plants. I know that the practice is common among golf courses, and among

some home gardeners. However, they are all in agreement that sludge should

never be used to fertilize food crops due to the uncontrolled elements that can

enter city waste from home disposal. Unless sludge continues to be labeled and

controlled accurately and completely, it will enter the food stream. The

results could be catastrophic, but would definitely degrade food crops and the

people who eat them. Please stop further action on this rule and move on to

more positive actions that will IMPROVE the nature of agriculture for human

benefit in every way that you can.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Nickolas Hein
