hey martha, or norm. i am 16 years old and i had a lot of the same symptoms

that you did (martha). i had dizzyness all the time, i'd come close to passing

out, and i would have symptome that could only be described as hot flashes. i

know that doesn't really sound like MS, but the 10th doctor i saw was almost

certain it was MS. the neurologist took 2 MRI's on my brain and eventually found

that i had a leision in my brain. right smack dab in the middle of it. they

wanted to do one more test and/or cut me open. so i had a spinal tap (the worst

experience of my life, i might add) and they said that you sould go and see

another panel of doctors at the University of Washington. i decided that 11

different doctors, various pills, shots, blood draws, physicals, exams and

various other tests were enough. i had had it and decided that i needed to make

a drastic change. and let me tell you martha, ever since i went 100% raw 8

months ago, i have never been the same. i have never before

felt highs that i feel every day. i have gone through a lot, and having even

more symptoms (that i probly shouldn't describe that have to do with girly

stuff) and depression, the whole thing, let me tell you that i have been changed

fully. i don't think i will evey go back because of how good i feel. 99% of the

symptoms deminished within the first 2 months. let me let you know that i never

went through a transition period. i went from eating meat, candy bars, cheese,

chips, pasta, rice, everything you could ever think of, to being fully raw-

overnight. so if you have any doubts that you cant go fully raw, i want to

encourage you that you can do it, i am 16 years old. my family is on Atkins,

and i go to a very public high school (if you know what i mean). so for anyone

out there- i haven't cheated- i have been 100% raw for 8 months on new years.

so you can do it too- it is so great, i have lost a significant amount of

weight, burdens on my shoulders lifted, and most of all, my

symptoms have decreased dramatically. if anyone has any questions, or comments

about what i just shared, or about MS, or anything, feel free to e-mail me at

sam2dabeach

thanks seattle, thanks martha, i hope you are encouraged to make the change that

i made and have the time of your life, just as i am every day.

thanks again,

in the raw,

hi seattle...

a friend of mine (martha, age 52) was diagnosed with ms in june '02 with

symptoms of

numbness in fingers and toes, wobbly legs and optic neuritis (the last

has remitted). symptoms had been apparent only a few months.

she's been eating maybe 60% raw since the ms diagnosis and is increasing

that percentage as comfortable. yoga is helping mobility.

we're looking for support from someone who has been here also, or anyone

who can offer guidance, suggestions, or experiences with autoimmune

diseases.

sue... do you have any input on nutrition

martha is concerned about raw sources for efa's, vitamins d and b12

i've read you can ''stave out'' a disease with a clean diet

can anyone explain how this applies autoimmune diseases

thanks in advance

peace, love and hachia persimmons...

norm :))~

Wow, Sam, that is fascinating testimony. Your recovery in itself is testament

to what the body can do when we give it the opportunity. It especially

illustrates the strength and vitality that are still present in a young body,

even one that has begun to degenerate from chronic self-intoxication. Your

experience with transitioning at 16 is very different from what I experienced

and what others go through when they transition at a later age. Just goes to

show that the longer we put off getting well, the more we have to suffer for our

mistakes. In any case, you are a really extraordinary young woman for making

the decisions you did and sticking to them.

Norm, or Martha, I think one important thing for anyone suffering from a

degenerative disease to understand is that it doesn't matter what the disease is

called because the " cure " is the same. So-called autoimmune diseases are no

different from other chronic conditions in that the cause is the same and to

heal them you need only remove the cause. The label that is assigned to them

only allows the misguided medical community to sell sufferers different

strategies for managing different symptoms. Once you give up on suppressing

symptoms at all and embrace the idea that your body can heal itself, you don't

need the labels. I'd recommend that Martha read " Awakening Our Self Healing

Body " by Art Baker for more information about this. Also, the depoprovera board

that I mentioned yesterday is populated by former sufferers of chronic disease

so there is lots of info of this nature there, along with support from others in

her position. There has also been a lot of talk there that would

allay her concerns about nutrient deficiencies.
