Perhaps we should add another board ettiquette rule that this board is not for expressing hatred & vitriole toward other groups. Our diet of the thoughts we think is every bit as important as our diet of food. IMO, anyone who delights in the suffering of others is in need of a serious mental diet overhaul. >Anyway, she tried it and said that she would rather eat cardboard than raw fruits and veggies and she would rather die from diabetes and cardiovascular disease than eat raw fruits and veggies. At that point I said, " Well! You probably will, in that case " ! If you want to help someone lose weight, bashing them is not the way to go. I think it's appallingly rude that you said that to her. I think you owe her an apology. ~Amy
Guest guest
Amy: I appreciate your honest feedback on my last post. After thinking about your response to my post I believe that I need to make ammends more than apologies. I admit that we live in a free society; that anyone is free to eat what they want, to live and to die the way they want--and that I have no power over this reality. I cannot control or change anyone but myself. I do admit that I need to change myself once I reach the point that I have decided to enjoy watching diabetics suffer. I realize that I am hurting myself, not others, when I express these thoughts. My problem is that I am so threatened by the mental illness that I see all around me that I am trying to fight it, rather than succumb to it. I'm am perhaps trying to use my anger as a tool in my recovery. I am trying to fight a war with SAD and its advocates. I am saying to myself that I could die of diabetes too--and I'm trying to fight that--and I'm also fighting all the people who offer me candy and mushy, mentally-ill thinking about food. I don't suppose you understand my side of it. I'm sorry. When I say " Let them die " this is my way of detaching from these people. I am writing them off; resigning them to their fate; I have decided not to spend any more time trying to help them or caring about them because it is futile.
