Guest guest
With the talk about pregnancy, I wanted to mention an e-mail I got recently from a friend regarding circumcising males. The e-mail refers to it as genital mutilation. It's surprising that very few have spoken out against this unnecessary surgery. I recall a while back a report of female genital mutilation that was taking place in a country and the outrage that it generated, yet male circumcision is routinely accepted and patronized by many doctors today. The article can be read at http://www.msnbc.com/news/964825.asp#BODY. Immunization is another issue to mention that is routinely done to young children, with some children becoming permanently brain damaged as a result. Medicine has made some strides. When I was a child, I had my tonsils removed when they got infected. Somehow doctors back then didn't think tonsils were needed, but they have changed their mind and don't favor it anymore. (I believe every part of our body is there for a reason and should only be removed if it is threatening the life of the body as a whole.) There are other things I wish they would change their mind on, and I hope someday that those in medicine will be willing to admit they were wrong in many of their procedures.
