Guest guest
Dear Raw Pregnancy supportors, The baby is not out yet, which is just fine ( we could all use a little more time in the womb) Thanks for the support, your letters of support of a natural child birth have been very helpful. We are close to Bellingham, so we understand that that is quite aways to commute for most people. Things are settled down and we are waiting for the baby which could come now to a few weeks from now. We feel supported by your e-mails and have talked with some people who have reassured us that we are making a correct discision. It is always a risk to take your own health into your own hands as people have done for so long, but what other sane choice do we have? Guest guest
I hate to post anything negative, ever. However, I really think that I need to share my story. I can see both side of the delivery argument very clearly as my two children demonstrated both situations. During the birth of my daughter (now 4.5) mother and daughter both nearly did not survive the experience. It was a very very scary delivery and my husband is still scarred by this as he really thought he might lose one or both of us. We managed a vaginal birth but I lost so much blood I was in the hospital for 5 days. The delivery of my son (now 4.5) was beautiful and glorious. The delivery was in a hospital but it was not medicated and practically pain free. None of the doctors or nurses attempted to intervene or even to counsel me to do anything other than make it my birth. The delivery of my daughter was so frightening that I couldn't believe that anyone would ever be so reckless as to not avail themselves of the benefits of modern technology. However, the delivery of my son was so simple, beautiful and miraculous, I can certain understand how people would not want to spoil it with an unnecessary, expensive and invasive trip to the hospital. My philosophy during both deliveries was to create a network of support and hope that I didn't need it. During both pregnancies, I consulted, an OB, an ND, a midwife and a doula. During the first delivery, everyone was needed. During the second, my network was an insurance policy that I didn't need. If you are interested in some contact information, I would be happy to share. I do know a few practioners in Everett and Bellingham that might be of service.
