Guest guest
To the essential oils woman (and anyone else who could help): I have a question about using essential oils for a skin rash. My sister had a similar rash, and told me it is called Tinea Versicolor and used either an anti-fungal cream or an antibiotic to get rid of it. I would prefer to try something different, however, not tea tree oil, as it seems I am allergic to it. If anyone has any advice, you can email me privately, I would appreciate it. Thanks, Susan ===== When we were children, we used to think that when we were grown-up we would no longer be vulnerable. Guest guest
It is me the essential oil lady. In general essential oils are really good for rashes as all oils are antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal. EO's are also drying so if it is a dry rash you want to be certain that you are using a moisturizing carrier oil. If it is a damp rash, you can use a tiny bit of oil neat and it will take care of the damp too. Different oils are more of one or the other but all of them have some antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties. Clove bud oil is the most antifungal oil but is also the most sensitizing oil so it is used very rarely topically. Sensitizing means that about 5% of people have an adverse reaction immediately and more will have it over time. It is never used undiluted. Tea tree is basically the most antifungal of antifungal oils that is not sensitizing but if you already had an adverse reaction you probably don't want to go there again. neat and Geranium are the best of the skin oil. They are very gentle and fix nearly any skin problem from stretch marks, to blemishes to rashes. The problem is that they are not very antifungal. It may be that a blend of lavender and tea tree would probably do the trick and the antifungal would most like balance out your reaction to the tea tree. Anyway, feel free to email me if you have any more questions. Guest guest
I would recommend you try a very low glycemic diet as outlined in Gabriel Cousens' new book Rainbow Green Live-Food Cuisine, available at www.amazon.com. The sugars in your diet are feeding the fungus.
