Guest guest
Hi Celeste, I don't live in Seattle anymore and am not aware of a raw restaurant that might carry such an item. I'm sure a local resident could answer that for more effectively for you RawSeattle (AT) Groups (DOT) com. Consuming anything specific to "get enough protein" is action based entirely on a lack of knowledge. Let us ignore for a moment all the diseases related to protein excess like osteoporosis, cancer, heart disease, diabetes, etc.. and just analyze a few facts: Mother's Breast Milk 4.5% of Calories from Protein USRDA for Protein 6% of Calories from Protein National Health Organization 8% of Calories from Protein World Health Organization 10% of Calories from Protein Now there a few big names there, but I vote for breast milk. At what other time does an organism grow more cells outside of the womb than while nursing? All the same regardless of whether our bodies require 4.5% or 10% there just isn't a diet composed of a variety of foods that couldn't easily surpass that requirement. Please look at the single page table I provided (an Adobe Acrobat PDF file is attached, go here if you can't view it: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html) listing the protein concentrations of different types of plant based foods: Fruits, Vegetables, Grains, and Legumes. While consuming a variety of fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds how could one not far surpass at 10% requirement? After viewing the table you will have to agree that it basically impossible not to meet that requirement. Unless of course you want to live on a caustic diet of apples and pineapples exclusively? Good news the World Health Organization agrees with your findings they too have no name for a disease condition relating to protein deficiency, rather they have a term called marasmus. Marasmus means caloric deficiency. That is people don't die from a lack of protein, but starvation in general, a lack of all dietary nutrients and not protein specifically. The only people in the world suffering from Protein deficiencies are: Anorexics Bulimics People Starving to Death and the terminally ill Everyone else gets enough protein. Just about everyone is consuming life from planet earth which is composed of cells. Although, I must admit some people do eat Cheatos and other franken-foods. Cells whether plant or animal-based are indeed composed of protein. If one is eating cells how could one not also be eating protein? Celeste I strongly suggest you read up on all the diseases related to the ~70% of Calories from Protein that can be found in all animal foods. Diet for a new America's Chapter 9 - The rise and the fall of the protein empire is an excellent place to start. For example most people don't know that excess protein is the real cause of osteoporosis and not lack of calcium. I don't however have the time to explain all that. The moral of the story is that protein is nothing more than a marketing term like Chevron with Technron or Windex with Amonia-D. The protein scare is just one of a thousand tricks pulled on the public to sell meat and dairy. I hope you are doing well and having fun. Cheers,Christian An ignorant mind is a horrible thing to maintain. - "Celeste Gabriele" <celestegabriele <Christian_Blackburn Wednesday, September 10, 2003 8:09 AM seed cheese > > Hi Christian,> > I am back to Raw Food and I have a friend coming from San Francisco> whos source of Protein is Seed Cheese.> Do you know where I could get that?> > Celeste>
