Guest guest
Hello everyone, I'm so glad to see there is a raw food circle in the northwest. I'm currently in California but will be in Seattle early September... I have very recently decided to switch to raw foods, as you all know, this transition is very difficult. I find I can barely go a day, 9 was my most, and I usually give in before a 2 day stretch is up. I am keeping a good attitude, and not giving up. At times all the effort can be a bit mentally taxing...Has anyone found that there are certain things one can do to help make this transition easier on the body and mind. This group and knowing there are others going through similiar situations, for the good of themselves and mankind, is a huge help in itself. Thank you all!~! Guest guest
Joshua, Are there specific challenges for you or specific cravings that are the culprits? If so, someone may have more specific advice to help you out. If it's food cravings, it may just be a matter of finding some raw foods that help satisfy those cravings. Raw nuts and seeds, pates, etc. may help satisfy. I found that making a pate including some soaked almonds, an avocado, blended in a food processor with some greens (parsley or kale, etc.) a little water and some sea salt, was very satisfying, especially if I served it up with some diced tomatoes or cucumbers, etc. The basic rule is, eat all you want as long as it's raw! Mixing of a lot of the above foods and other " potluck foods " may not be ideal for nutrition (food combining,) but it should help with the transition. The potlucks help one to see other dishes and learn new ideas for preparing foods, so I recommend potlucks. If you are able to get to the Raw Festival, that's a definite plus. I highly recommend it. There are great speakers, food demos, merchant booths, and lots of raw food to experiment on! Guest guest
You might try fasting for 3 days, then start eating raw. Maybe you are trying too radical a change at once. Try eliminating cooked food in phases so it isn't so much of a sudden change. As you start feeling better reward yourself by eliminating another cooked food. You should be feeling better if you transition from regular diet to raw.
