Guest guest
She's starting to try raw and has been vegan/animal activist for more than a few years. Please read my blurb, if you have useful suggestions, please tell me. thanks N rawNadvicev.0 qick lo down on raw; maybe the easiest way to go raw is to slowly incorporate more and more raw fruits and veggies into diet, not cold turkey; ideal raw diet is juicy RIPE fruits and leafy greans (nothing else); nothing is raw unless it says so (its either roasted or processed at high temps); some comfort foods for me are/were raw, unsalted nut butters, avocados, dates; when i started eating bee pollen, spirulina, hemp/flax/olive oils, a couple months ago, my energy level really smoothed out; as for food combining, fruits and fats(oils;avo's;nuts) make body acidic; citrus is opposite (alkaline or basic); don't mix acid and base; greens seem neutral or basic. i guess that 85% of raw fooders are not 100% raw. Nach, 01/16/2003 rawNadvicev.1 All info in v.2 is relating to combining a lot of one food with a lot of another food.....improper combining of small amounts of different foods is probably not a big issue (or MAYBE! even good, who knows). Proper food combining rules are Way easier to remember than the do not's. You can eat leafy greans with fruits OR with vegetables, that's pretty much it. Do not combine fruits/veggies/fats/proteins/starches/kitties. This is to prevent fermentation and/or putrification in the G.I. tract. Being gassy/burpy is a sign of improper food combining -acid and a base- and/or poor health. Being stinky at the o-ring, pits, hair/scalp, mouth, is a sign of improper food combining -food stays inside body too long- and/or poor health and/or overeating. When in transition, lots of chewing of highest quality (organic) food is imperitive to satisfying your body's wacky hunger/cravings. As body becomes cleaner and more efficient and easier to read, wild cravings/emotional issues will diminish/cease. Starchies are digested by something in saliva......Proteins are digested in stomach by Hydorchloric Acid (HCl) (HCl is produced in the stomach which is triggered into production by something in saliva when protein is chewed).....so, it's most important to chew starches and proteins like crazy....of coarse, most everything else has a little protein and starch in it so CHEW EVERYTHING TO A LIQUID. Fats are digested just after stomach in large intestine and slow down digestion of everything else (this slowing down is supposedly counteracted by leafy greens). Fruits go through stomach fast, veggies slower; if you eat them together, fruits won't go through fast enough and they will putrify and/or ferment. Pick up a purple Natural Choice Directory (free) at one of the local health food stores like PCC, Madison Mkt, Rainbow..... These stores will offer 10% discount if you buy by the case (share?) Central Market in Shoreline is the only place to offer wild discounts (20/30%) off cases. Trader Joes is great/cheap for organic cherry tomatoes and organic leafy green mixes. In addition to the first sentence of v.2, a little stinky/gassy is probably not the end of the world, more likely the end of the universe. www.rawseattle.org Nach, 4/19/2003 This is not doctors advice-if you experience extra " dis-eases " by doing this, it'snot my fault. _______________ MSN 8 with e-mail virus protection service: 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/virus
Guest guest
Also, you have to allow enough time for the food you eat to digest before eating again or going to sleep. Eating just before going to bed means the digestive system will be working why you are sleeping, and it will take longer to digest because your body slows down while you are sleeping.
