Guest guest
Anyone interested in a hike tomorrow? We could bring our own picnic lunches. It would be nice to get into the mountains away from the city for a few hours. Does anyone know of a good hike within a half hour or so of Seattle? Guest guest
Jeff, My favorite close-in hike is from the Issaquah high school up to Pu Pu Point. Most people don't know about it so there is never a crowd. You park along the road to the high school at the trail head, walk around the high school grounds and then head up the trail. It is 4 miles with a 1600 foot altitude gain. Along the way there is a small cave to explore just after you pass the power lines. At the top is the hang glider/parasail launch (I used to fly from this site myself). The view from the top is incredible, and if the weather is like today's you should be able to see some people flying. I've done this hike with each of my kids since they were 4 years old, but it is an invigorating (steep) climb. With a typical crowd allow 2 hours up and 30 minutes to come down, and at least an hour on top to soak up the view. I can't make the hike myself, but if you want more details call me at 425-255-7560.
