Guest guest
Monte, I believe the Portland Festival is late August this year, directly after the Boutenko Family Reunion weekend in Ashland, OR again. I took the full week off last year, from weekend to weekend--- it was AWESOME! A week in lovely warm Ashland, camping, hiking, and soaking in the sauna every night, then an incredible weekend in Portland to top it off! That's my plan again this year. Some folks stopped at Breitenbush Hot Springs on their way up to Portland. Then back to Seatlte...my vacation is planned! :-) We will talk about carpooling on this list as the time gets closer. -------------------- It was great meeting you at Victoria's 12 Steps workshop this weekend. I think we might see MANY new faces this Saturday at my potluck. ------------------- P.S. All those " old timers " planning to come this Saturday-- Please make something special (lots of it) in honor of the new folks who are hungry for new information---also bring your recipes and resources to share. Let's show them some rawsome hospitality! peace and joy, Linda
Guest guest
that sounds like a plan! But Raw Family Reunion and Raw Festival, kinda sounds like newbie raw overload!! I don't know if I can do that though, My store is moving at around that time (early august) and I have some employess who have already requested time off around then. I will keep my fingers crossed. ---- It was great meeting you also Linda and everyone else that was there, what a cool weekend. I still think about it. thanks Monte So are any of the other new people checking this list??? Any one out there?? How is everything going, with your transition? I have been 100% Raw for two days straight now (Sunday Noon), no cheating (which incidently ties my personal best for staying raw). Starting to feel a cold coming on, which normally would make me go get some vitamin C pills, and some, aspirin, and cough syrup, and echenacia (sp). So what what did I do today? Went and bought GRAPES! hehehe. One of the things I have been worried about making it hard for me to stay raw is work. At first I thought it was a blessing to work where I do (and it really is) but it can also be somewhat of a curse. I work for PCC Natural Markets. " And you say, but Monte they have all this organic produce and bulk nuts and stuff, how can that be a curse?! " Well first of all, they do have a nice produce department, and bulk section. But they also have this thing called a deli, that I get to walk by all day and smell all those wonderful cooked smells. Then there is the walking by the fresh scones in the morning. Then, if that were not enough, my job as Grocery Coordinator, among other things , includes getting samples mailed or dropped off for me all the time. Today I got a special sample package delivered by Mr. Postman and Mr. UPS. Lots of free cooked goodies, which in a way is my job to evaluate, etc. This time I sat there, looking at all this stuff. Some of it looked really good, very much something I would have ate a few days ago. Finally I got up and got a pen and some paper. Wrote " Free to good home, just tell me how you like them. Monte " and took everything up into the lunch room. And as far as the deli goes, I started liking the smell less and less anyway, sometimes when I smelled cooked meat it made me...well lets just say it made me walk away. And the scones, well they have 2 different people make them, and the ones that get made the most now are the ones I don't like anyway. See talk about it a bit, and it doesn't look quite so hard to do anymore. Peace Monte

If you decide to do both, BE CAREFUL! You might be levitating by the end of it!
