Guest guest
So what exactly is the purpose of " combining " (or not, as it were)? Guest guest
Food combing deals with the proper combining of foods when eating to ease digestion and maximize nutrition. When combined poorly, some foods may sit in the stomach for digestions, while other, incompatible foods, digest first. This may lead to fermentation, etc. Digestion is not as efficient this way and we may loose nutrients in the process. Some foods contain lots of water which dilute stomach acid. Some foods require more stomach acid or different enzymes than others, so poor combining can can affect this. The strong stomach acid digesting one food may negatively affect digestion of another food, just as extra liquids will dilute stomach acid, making it impossible to digest some other foods, so that food won't digest till the concentration of acid increases again. So, anyway... the IDEAL is to eat one food at a time (some avocados OR some mangos, etc.) That way the body focuses on the proper conditions for digesting one thing. Regarding combining, here are a few general rules (there are more): Eat melons by themselves Eat starches with greens eat proteins with greens Do not eat starches with proteins. That comes from my understanding of combining back when I ate cooked foods. Perhaps some on this list have studied food combining for raw foodists.
