Guest guest
Going back to the topic of juicing, I have a question for those of you who do juicing (or used to). I use a Green Life. My daily juice is kale, apple, celery, lemon, sometimes with parsley added. I get SO tired of the amount of foam that the Green Life produces in the juice. For a couple of days, I switched to the Boutenko method: mixing the above in the VitaMix with a cup of pure water and then straining through the mesh bag. Well, this is less time consuming, a little messier, and doesn't yield as much juice, even with the addition of the water. So, do you have any suggestions of something I can do to cut down on the amount of foam short of buying a different kind of juicer? BTW: I tried your recipe this morning, Linda (cucumber, celery, parsley, burdock), and really liked it. Thanks! I'll keep a watch on my grey hair and see if any disappears. Thanks for your ideas. Guest guest
I have the new Green Star and it works great for juicing greens, but does produce some foam. I sometimes mix it in with a fork, otherwise I scoop it out with a fine strainer, leaving the great juice behind! Jeff PS: I'm enjoying some organic cilantro/apple as we email! >So, do you have any suggestions of something I can do to cut down on >the amount of foam short of buying a different kind of juicer? One day I just started thinking the foam probably protected the juice from oxidizing too fast, and then, the foam just stopped bothering me any more. Isn't it interesting? Just change your way of looking at the thing then you feel differently about it. If you really don't like the foam, you can just scrape it off with a spoon. Guest guest
Thanks, Jeff and Helen, for your responses. This morning's juice was almost 3 cups foam ontop of 1 cup of juice. Stirring didn't make any difference. (Been there, done that!) I'm going to give the changing my mind suggestion a chance. The foam was particularly annoying when I was making some bottles of apple juice for the freezer. Thanks again! Annette
