To juice or not to juice

Wow! Let's get a great rousing point-counterpoint discussion going on

juicing!

Here's my experience:

Three years ago when I went 100% raw, my hair was falling out and it was

brittle and coarse. Some people have even told me I had more white hair

then. I was told that I was deficient in minerals and that I needed it in a

concentrated amount. I green juiced daily for a year! (1 cucumber, 1 apple,

3-4 stalks celery, 1 handful of parsley, 6 " or so piece of burdock root.)

The result? Soft, manageble hair that doesn't fall out by the handful. I

don't know about the white hair part--you'll have to tell my your

observation, since I can't observe the top of my head. [grin]

Since that time, I've juiced periodically but I mostly listen to my body.

I've been feeling the need again recently. However, I'll buy the food, and

not juice it! Interesting, eh? Last night, I hadn't eaten all day since

breakfast (around noon) and thought I'd stop into the Fremont PCC for a

green juice. I had a few sips of it and my stomach hurt. Interesting again.

I think juicing is good for therapeutic reasons-- folks with ailments, folks

who are weak or have a weak constituion, a quick meal, ..... I figure one

can never consume too many greens, no matter how they consume them.

Remember: a juicer can be used for multiple purposes. You may not use one

for fruit sorbet or preparing pate's Eric, but there are many folks who do.

If someone wants to juice wheatgrass, (since we cannot process the

cellulose), some of the higher end juicers will do the trick.

What are you thoughts on wheatgrass juice, Eric? Anyone?

Peace,

Linda
