Italian plums/prunes appeared in Whole Food Market. Attila sniffed the black jewels all the way from his home at the south and rushed right over. I checked the brix of a few and got 19, 16, 20. I have no reference for the plums but the numbers seem decent to me. The Italian plums are 1.99/lb. Hachia persimons are not bad (brix 24.5 fuzzy at the tip and 16 close to the stem end) but fuju persimons look sickly. Normally I prefer fuju because hachias has a puckery taste. They are .99 each. Brix of black grapes with seeds: 19, 19.5 19.5, 16. Seedless red grapes : 23 f, 19.5, 19. 20 is consedered excellent for grapes.

Last week I got yellow Asian pears from PCC brixed 15, 17. 14 is considered excellent for regular pears but i think asian pears ought to have higher brix. Again i don't have reference for asian pears but these pears are quite enjoyable. They are 1.98/lb in PCC while they are sold for 2.98/lb in Central Market. I also bought two strawberry papayas because they look good and found out they were expensive and of poor quality, 2.98 each. I haven't yet found good papayas.
