With all the concern we show for food....

With all the care and concern we raw-fooders use selecting the foods we consume it's a shame we can't be more selective about the air we breath. Those of you I've met are aware that I'm car-free (personally, although I'm still a family chaufeur) and feel strongly about the way we've let cars overrun us with noise, pavement and pollution. I'm on a car-free list, and this comment came across today from another local list member:

I don't know of anything that a healthy human body emmits that really compares to toxic automobile emmisions, leaks, and wear products. At times societies take prudent public health measures and quaranteen people with certain highly contagious infectious diseases, like tuberculosis. On the other hand, most places with people have been made accessible to automobiles and a person has to make an extra special effort to get away from auto exhaust and noise.(author unknown)

In response I've decided to open a bike shop that promotes cycling as an effective means of transportation. I am in the process of settling on a location (somewhere in the Green River valley), but expect to be open by the end of the month. In the meantime you can contact me at 425-922-4212 if you need parts, expert repairs or service. Once I open my shop I will be offering recumbent bikes, electric pedal-assist bikes and rentals. The name of the business is "Pedal Motive".

Excellent! Good luck! If Pedal Motive works out well, maybe you can open up

an MDI Air Car Factory in a few years. The car runs on pure compressed air and

cleans the air as it drives. It's better than zero polution. Also, the engine

is lubricated with soy oil instead of petroleum oil.
