Tabling at Earthsave Event

Hi gang,

I'm disappointed to report that Earthsave wants $500 for table space

at their 3-hour event on October 5 which will take the place of the annual

Taste of Health. I told the gal who's putting it together this was

way too rich for RawSeattle, and asked if one or two of us could just mingle

and hand out literature, if we paid our admission ($10 I think).

I got this reply:

"I can talk with the other core volunteers who are putting on the

event to discuss handing out info at the event, my sense is this is not

something that we'll do but we are planning on putting together a packet

for each participant. We may be able to put a one page flyer or info

page on Raw Seattle in our resource packet. Why don't you go ahead

and put a one pager together and email it to me then I'll let you know.

"

I don't want to sound ungrateful for her offer, but this will be a lot

less effective than actually handing something to someone and engaging

a conversation. It is disappointing and frustrating that EarthSave

is so inhospitable to other groups that share their goals. If I was

an EarthSave member, I'd sure let them know how I felt about it.

If we get permission, I'll make up a flyer that will be made up of 1/2

information about RawSeattle and 1/2 about the upcoming Loren Lockman seminar

(in the planning stages, but tentatively slated for mid-November).

If anyone has any comments or suggestions, or questions, your input is

welcome.

What about standing outside the venue and talking with people. I know that is not the classiest way, but it might work. It is a public sidewalk and at Bumbershoot there were all sorts of tables set up on the sidewalk outside the Center.

I suggest it's in our best interest to keep up relations with

EarthSave. I think standing outside, while getting the information

out, will rub EarthSave the wrong way.

Allowing us to put a one page flyer in with their literature is

actually a good offer. It allows many people to learn about Raw

Seattle and its activities.
