Do you know someone in Whatcom County who wants to:

* recover or improve their health?

* lose some weight and feel better?

* improve their athletic performance?

* increase their mental clarity and emotional availability?

If you and I would like to enjoy more of the health and excellence enjoyed

by Olympic athletes, we need to eat more like they eat, know more of what

they know and obtain the motivation to SIMPLY DO IT.

From Illness to Health - A Personal Story

By: Bev S

I first met Dr Graham in late January 2001, eight months after my lung

collapsed during a routine biopsy to determine the character of a growing

lung tumor. That meeting was also about seven months after my first

professionally supervised water fast and my decision to refrain from eating

animal products of any kind including dairy.

With my severe level of COPD [chronic obstructive pulmonary disease], mainly

emphysema from years of smoking much earlier in my life, I was searching for

" treatments " which would improve my quality of life without surgery and the

sure promise of more near-death experiences, if indeed not the ultimate one.

Becoming a vegetarian helped, but even after my second fast last September,

I soon reached a plateau that would not lift. I was eating tons of steamed

vegetables, brown rice, rolled oats, and potatoes daily - all organic, of

course. So this last January, all the recommendations that Dr. Graham made

seemed like a big stretch. He challenged me to " GO RAW " for two weeks and

notice the difference in my lung FUNCTION. My husband joined me out of

convenience, since he was the cook in our house [now the un-cook].

I was astonished! We both were! My ability to breathe and perform routine

daily chores soared. I'm hardly physically fit, but " going raw, sans

grains, " has made such a difference in my life and has given me new hope for

continued partial if not full recovery. I am grateful for Dr. Graham's words

of wisdom - some from the consultation, some from books and some from tapes.

His two slender volumes, GRAIN DAMAGE and NUTRITION AND ATHLETIC

PERFORMANCE, are must-reads.

This is a journey and it is FAR from over (an emphasis I would not have

given six months ago). I've taken myself off the critically ill list and on

to the " much more healthy than before " list. I still have a long way to go

and refinements to make. But I now feel I'm on the right road going in the

right direction. I have hope now. I have Dr. Graham to thank for that; and

Marr Nealon, too, for insisting I hear him lecture! It has changed my life!
