Guest guest
well, kinda hi brix... chuck called to tell me that the haggen's on woburn (in b'ham) has cantaloupes advertised as "the sweetest cantaloupe of the summer". there's a sign on the bin explaining that the california standard is 10 or higher and goes on to boast that these melons, grown by fordel farms of california, are 14 brix or higher. the pike chart places 10 brix as average and 14 as good. *real* brixheads wouldn't go out of their way for a 10 brix but a 14 is worth checking out and a 18 brix is something to write home to mom about. i called haggen's and learned that these melons should be in all haggen's stores. but the point is, brix is catching on and it's because of folks like you that are asking the produce department for hi-brix so keep asking and someday hi-brix produce will be common. norm )~ ~~~ raw food... simply delicious ~~~
