Guest guest
What do y'all think about peppercorns/pepper in the raw diet? I'm guessing that even whole peppercorns aren't raw or dehydrated at low temperatures, but maybe you can tell me more ... I'd also be interested to hear from long-time raw fooders about the effect eating pepper has on their system, and if they think it is suitable to have in a raw diet. Thanks much! joel

While we're at it -- thoughts on mushrooms? These seem to be always overlooked in the raw books I've read. joel
Guest guest
joel, experience for yourself what works and what doesn't. its different for each person. you'll get alot of that answer from raw foodists, because thats the best answer. for myself, i use peppercorn on small occasion. the reason being because i like how it enhances the taste of certain foods, especially gourmet type raw dishes. another good use for pepper is on cantaloupe. its a southern thing. overall, i don't think pepper is good for the diet. like loren lochman says, "if you can't eat a dish of it, its not natural to be eating." this goes for garlic, cinnamon, and other "natural" flavor enhancers. i don't think it is good, but i eat it sometimes anyway. of the items i question are good for my diet, i try to keep consumption low, below 5% of total calories consumed. Easy to do with spices. my diet isn't perfect, and neither am i. joe >"joelpt2" >RawSeattle >RawSeattle >[RawSeattle] Peppercorns? >Mon, 03 Jun 2002 01:52:16 -0000 > >What do y'all think about peppercorns/pepper in the raw diet? They're overlooked deliberately, because they are not human food, imho.
