Guest guest
Hello, I'm new to the raw foods diet (I got to meet some of you at the April 27th Potluck at Linda's house)I've been aiming for around 95% raw. This allows for less obsessing on perfection while learning a totally new way of eating. I also have a husband and six year old daughter. They are incorporating some of the raw foods into their diet (About 50%) I've read lots of great books and acquired a spiral slicer and a champion juicer. Soon I will be bringing home a dehydrator. I enjoy creating recipes that resemble familiar foods, ie. crackers, raw soups, veggie " pasta " , almond hummus, as well as incorporating new and unusual fruits and vegetables. I am very interested in feedback, support, others opinions and experiences...you name it. I have lots of questions and here are some: Is a " young coconut " the same as the geometrically shaped white fleshy looking things that they sell next to the regular coconuts? I just paid $4.99 for a Cherimoya at Top Foods...is this an average price? Would an asian food store be a better source? I've been trying to sprout Quinoa and Millet but only a small percentage of the seeds actually germinate. I've been following the directions in a sprouting book, purchased Raw Organic seeds...any suggestions for a source of highly viable seeds? What is the going rate per pound for a Durian...yes I am addicted:)And can I find these in any asian food store? My daughter wants to grow the seeds from all of these beautiful fruits (Mango, avacado, cherimoya, date, durian etc.) Aside of the avacado seed are any of these others " growable " ? Thank you so much for taking the time to read my long e-mail. I look forward to your insights. I live in Olympia and have been told there is a great Raw Foods community here but so far I haven't been able to connect with them. Thanks again, Michelle Mother's Day is May 12th! Yep. That's the one. .69 each at Hau Hau Market in ChinaTown. > I just paid $4.99 for a Cherimoya at Top Foods. Hau Hau is my favorite place to shop for Coconut, durien and Cherimoya. Cheapest price!! Cherimoya's are huge! and half the price per pound. I think I paid recently 3.50 something per pound! Buy lots! I'll share a case with you! I can't remember the price per pound for Durien. I want to say .79/lb. Can somebody else help me out here? I'm rooting the top of a Pineapple. It took a long time but it has one long root now. I've been collecting Cherimoya seeds, just for fun. I gave up that collection. ha ha. Does your daughter want them for a craft project? :-) I hope to see you again.
