Guest guest
Well, after being in my " holier than thou " attitude, thinking that because I'm raw I can't get sick (and this has usually been true), I'm now down with the same thing that my " cooked " friends have had over the past month -- and, as a result, I missed being at Karen's class today. Plus, I feel lousy. [Note to Attila: I am fasting today] So, now for my question: If I'm merely " detoxing, " how come I have the same chest cough and headache that so many others have been suffering from? Raw people tell me that there's no such thing as being contagious. Is it merely coincidence that 100s of people have the same symptoms at the same time? Apart from not feeling well, coughing, and having a voice that's unrecognizable to my sweetie, I am genuinely disappointed to have missed hearing Dr. Jayne and Karen today. Perhaps someone can write a short synopsis for the board. Blessings, Annette
Guest guest
thanks for the note, annette, there is no reason for disappointment, learn more, experience more instead, you'll get there,i assure you, the cleansing process may take much more than expected, months....years.... depending of your constitution, and lifestyle... after almost five years, i still have a mild version of detox every year, similar to other 100s around me...i work in a pretty dirty environment, dealing with sewer, moldy attics and crowlspaces, sheetrocks and solvents and paints and cleaning soaps and bleacvh and liquid live and many many more... so i get stuffed up, too, no matter how raw my food is, sometimes i even question the apparent paradox between a normal activity of my body to create protective mucus against those agents mentioned above and the mucus solving and eliminating effect of the raw diet, (anybody in the same boat?).... and lets not forget about the environmental effects of the puget sound area, months in a row clouds and rain and no sunshine and little natural warmth , only artificially heated interiours, could this be a considerable factor? we have to find out ourselves, and it will take time, a whole lot of time, right? now, you tell me about your fasting, how you plan/do it, for how long you've been raw, .... lots of cefficients in the formula....and these would be the major subjects of the support group meetings.... lots of personal observations identified and integrated into a new natural whole, almost totally erased out of the human memory, anyway, fasting is the best thing you could do, just watch carefully, stay in the bed all the time, and close your eyes all the time, and do nothing but observe, and sense, and feel, and experience, and be, and don't worry about the rest, " the rest " knows what it's doing, you can trust it, ok? be a good girl, see you soon, (maybe tomorrow?) a tt i l a --- cloudriver <Tsunami wrote: > Well, after being in my " holier than thou " attitude, > thinking that > because I'm raw I can't get sick (and this has > usually been true), > I'm now down with the same thing that my " cooked " > friends have had > over the past month -- and, as a result, I missed > being at Karen's > class today. Annettc (Paula too!), Here's one theory: It may be that the very detoxing " symptoms " that your body needs are found in that exact virus or " bug. " If that is the case then when you come into contact with the virus, your body accepts it! In terms of what to do about it, over the years I have tried to look at my body and try to help it in cleansing. This typically meant a juice diet ( " juice fast. " Although now I would likely water fast), sometimes some light fruits or veggies. I do suggest staying off nuts and seeds (grains, too, if you eat those). The heavier, higher protein foods may move through your system slower than lighter foods. If there are things (toxins, etc.) that need to move out of your body, if you are going to eat, then try helping the body by eating foods that will move quicker. But first and foremost, follow your intuition! Jeff
Guest guest
Hi Annette, Just got over that sickness myself... first time in three years I've been 'sick'. Wasn't fun. I thought it may have been because I defiantly decided to eat some pizza recently after two years at 100%. That may have contributed, but there was a lot more to it than that. At Karen's talk yesterday at the Vita Bar, Dr. Christopher Jayne reaffirmed something that I have been coming to learn myself over the course of my last couple of raw years. That is, this is a process of cleansing that takes years, not months. Besides that, there is so, so much more to sickness (excuse me, 'detoxing' - I suppose we don't 'shit' either ; ) than can be prevented through diet alone. For those who are on the belief path that this is a panacea... learn now or learn later. Raw people in transition (meaning up to 7 years or more) get sick - though probably less than the general population, and this is a very positive step in the right direction. Takes awhile to clean up a body that has been abused for decades. And there's a lot more unclean stuff in our environment than just the poor food we've consumed. Happy healing. Get better! Throw some yoga in with that fresh organic orange juice.
