Guest guest
Normally I keep my political activities to myself. However this one is so basic (and, if overturned, horrificly cruel) that Im sure you're all already in favor of re-banning torturous wildlife slow-death traps. This takes two minutes. Please note the timely importance of this message, and forward it to any and all eastern washingtonians you know. May all beings be free. Karen PS- I know we all receive many emails representing all sorts of opinions. I dont intend to turn this list serv into an agglomeration of forwards-- This 'cause' (not permitting others to return to using antiquated death chambers in forests) is meritorious of all of our collective actions and prayers. namaste Note: forwarded message attached. Sports - Coverage of the 2002 Olympic Games http://sports. Dear supporters of I-713, The afternoon of Monday, February 18th, the Washington State Senate passed a bill that completely overturns I-713, the initiative that made cruel trapping and poisoning of wild animals illegal in Washington State. The first vote for SSB 5831, which will overturn I-713, is slated for TOMORROW (Friday), so we need your help to test this feature NOW. Please visit http://actionstudio.org/go.cfm?object=1 to e-fax your state legislators with the easy online petition. It's simple, free and effective! Faxes have great impact, and are often taken more seriously than emails. PLEASE FORWARD TO ALL WASHINGTON STATE VOTERS CONCERNED ABOUT ANIMAL CRUELTY! SEND TO EVERY EASTERN WASHINGTON VOTER YOU KNOW AS THAT'S WHERE OPINIONS ARE MOST NEEDED NOW. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP! ________________________ Background Info: HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? When SB 5831 (which clarified that mole and gopher trapping is legal under I-713) moved to the floor of the Senate for a vote, Senator Jim Hargrove introduced an amendment that simply repealed the entire initiative and, unbelievably, THE AMENDMENT PASSED. The vote was 38-11. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? The bill (now titled SSB 5831) will go to the House of Representatives' Natural Resources Committee on Friday, which can vote to pass it on to the Rules Committee and from there it can go to the floor for to be voted upon by the entire House. This whole process can happen very quickly.
