Guest guest Posted December 26, 2001 Report Share Posted December 26, 2001 Tree of Life Café Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center 771 Harshaw Road Patagonia, AZ 85624 (520) 394 2589 Fax: (208) 723-5025 cafe www.treeoflife.nu Resources Manager Position The Tree of Life Café as part of the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center anticipates that it may have a need within the next 30-90 days for an experienced Resources Manager to assist the Café Manager and Head Chef to manage a kitchen and café operation that prepares healthy, gourmet, vegan Live foods serving 20-40 people, 3 meals a day, 7 days a week. We are looking for someone who is production oriented in the kitchen and in addition is able to manage time, money and physical resources effectively. The Resources Manager has the following responsibilities: Ordering and Inventory · Order fresh food and dried food products for the café as required for the cultural menu, ensuring a regular inventory for an even flow of produce in stock. · Quantity planning for special events such as juice fasts and other TOL programs. · Research the highest quality products and find source companies with the best prices. · Order cleaning products required by housekeeping for Café and other TOL areas. · Ensure quality control on all ordered products and process and returns and refunds. Financial · Create and manage the café resources budget; collect daily meal volume numbers · Process check requests as required for COD accounts and pick up orders · Check invoices against orders to ensure accuracy · Collect guest payments and ensure that they are transmitted accurately to Accounting · Coordinate closely with Accounting on all financial matters. Café Equipment and service/prep items · Maintain café equipment, ensuring they are in proper working order · Return broken equipment, obtain replacement parts, order new or replacement items. Food Preparation · Work meal preparation shifts as scheduled · Teach basic food prep classes for staff and guests; participate in chef apprentice curriculum training as directed by Café Manager. · Ensure a daily supply of sprouts and Keep the sprout shed organized Guest Services · Maintain Café email list and send out resource list links to requesting clients · Answer queries by email related to the raw food lifestyle · Update guest notice board with required notices, including sunset meditation times · Update white board with weekly guest special food requirements Organizational Tasks · Ensure that the café is presentable to guests at all times in coordination with housekeeping and café staff · Keep walk-In refrigerator storage area organized at all times · Unpack and stock orders in relevant areas, rotate stock as required, keep kitchen staff informed of what needs to be used up and what to use frugally · Work with maintenance staff to keep recycling area safe and in order; provide maintenance staff with safety and repair tasks needed at the café. · Update kitchen notice board · Weekly distribute and collect brunch sign up for staff · Ensure staff and interns know applicable café policies and procedures · Present and update kitchen guidelines and health practice book for interns and staff. · Take new staff on a tour of the land and café · Communicate important messages about café to whole staff · Kitchen meeting agenda and minutes · Review new chef apprentice applicants along with Café Manager The qualities that are essential for this position are as follows: · Desire to source the highest quality all organic all live foods for the guests and staff · Dedicated to veganism and the live foods education movement, with a passion to share with others without judgment · Desire to work extra hours as and when required to ensure that the café runs smoothly at all times · Ecological understanding when ordering organic foods and café products · Basic raw food preparation and sprouting skills · Strong self initiative and desire for continual evolution of your work space and colleagues · Strong connection with your inner spirit bringing this into the work place and community · Ability to serve the needs of the guests and staff at the highest level without question · Strong desire to live a Sattvic lifestyle within a spiritual community · Positive manner and attitude at all times Essential Skills · Excellent computer skills especially with Word, Excel, Outlook and Explorer · Excellent presentation skills for producing documents · Ability in basic maintenance of PC computer and printer · Ability to organize files in computer and paper · Basic math skills for order procurement · Excellent phone manner The Tree of Life Café is part of a much larger vision which incorporates: · Concious Living and physical and mental healing in service to spiritual awakening · Raw/ Living organic vegan foods · Yoga, Kabbalism, Essenes, Native American traditions, other spiritual paths By taking this position you will be entering into a community of like-minded people with a shared vision to bring inner awakening to guests and staff alike.
