European Traveling in the raw

Hi, Nutruient/energy dense or wholefoods are foods with less natural/structural/distilled water content. My experience has been to always take my own supply of nutrient-dense nuts (always almonds),seeds (sunflower, pumpkin, flax) and dried fruit (dates are a super food, raisons, figs). Some long-term raw food eaters will recommend spirulina, blue-green algae and grass powders for chlorophyll and minerals. I see that you are travelling to "developed" countries so that you should be able to obtain daily fresh greens for your minerals. Water is another factor while travelling. Airplane travel dehydrates the body as airplane cabin air is extremely dry. Be sure to have quality water with you while flying. Drinking water is only an issue in "less-developed" countries. If you do happen upon some questionable water then boil it (this is only recommended when travelling to very remote areas with no running water or fresh wells). Two other good staples, which I never leave home without, is garlic and cayenne. If you are feeling like you ate a questionable meal then eat garlic and cayenne and hydrate yourself well since both are dehydrating. Garlic has sulfur in it and dries up excess mucous. I feel the single most important factor in enjoying your vacation in finding a fresh produce market, preferably the farmer kind, and the fresh food found there should be the main-stay of your raw eating. ...Happy travels. regards, joyce - Timothy D. Hello,

I haven't met most of you yet, but I plan to start

attending some potlucks after I come back from Europe.

I've been raw for only about 2 months now and will be

traveling out of the country for my first time ever in

about a week. Does anyone have any good traveling

tips related to eating raw while traveling

internationally? I'll be

backpacking/training/hosteling in the Netherlands,

Belgium, France, Switzerland, and Italy.

Any tips on what are good energetic snacks, what foods

to bring with me, what to avoid, and anything else you

can think of would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim Lottridge

Cheers-

for me, backpacking for several months forced me to

boil down my pack to the basic basics-- aside from

blue green algae, a vital superfood, no room for food

was afforded. I wasnt raw at the time, but a vegan in

Latin America....

The places to where you're travelling shouldnt prove

to be too difficult to obtain fresh, clean fruits,

provided you'll be in areas with regular markets. By

contacting The Fresh Network, you may be able to hook

up with raw potlucks and culture--->

www.fresh-network.com, or info.

There are loads of 'fresh' groups throughout the

regions you'll be visiting.

I also recommend having a friend send you occassional

care packages of fruit roll-ups, crackers, and other

nutrient-dense staples once you know you'll be in a

certain location for a few days- or plan ahead: get

the addresses of the hostel where you'll be 6 days in

advance and email the address off to your personal

dehydratin' chef. If you dont have anyone who can do

this for, please let me know and I may be able to help

you- I sell these staples locally and would be into

sending them off for travellers as well.

Best of luck and we look forward to meeting you!
