Guest guest
hello raw fooders, i have been experimenting with the raw food diet lately. i decided to try 100% raw on october 17. as i am new to this, i could use some advise. so any help i can get from you will be much appreciated. 1) i've heard there are some naturopathic doctors that monitor their patients when starting the raw diet. do any of you know of such doctors around here? 2) i know some of you network and buy stuff in bulk. i live in beacon hill, at present. i would like to go in on orders for fruits and vegetables, uncracked nuts, maybe nfl's superfood. organic preferred. right now i am getting some fruits delivered real cheap to my house, from seattle line produce. this works out well, although it is not organic, and i have a hard time eating 40 lb of bananas before spoilage. i have 2 other friends who are raw, that are not so involved with your group. they have odd work schedules, as i do, and don't get to attend potlucks and support groups so much. so i hope to help them with the info i can get from you as well. maybe i can get them to join also. i have met a good number of you at various potlucks the last few months. the food there could tempt anyone be go raw. you are my role models and my inspiration for staying determined with this. i hope to see you much more. thank you for your help. joe
Guest guest
Hello New Guy and kudos for writing- As you intuit, everyone has their own personal experience with raw foods, particularly in the Going Raw aspect. I found that books about raw foods and raw 'transformations' gave me stamina and inspiration to stick with my stumbling towards rawdom.... The Sunfood Diet Success System is a good one- every page functions like a personal cheerleader for the reader to get on raw food. Gabriel Cousens' book Conscious Eating was a profound resource for me. He conducts clinical studies on his patients as they go onto 100% raw, living vegan diets, performing live blood analysis on them 1 to 2 times a day watching their cellular structure completely turn around within 3 weeks. There's been talk among some folks about having this done with a local woman who performs these same readings; we never wound up doing it though. As for NDs I cannot recommend anyone locally (yet). I'll let you know when i find someone. After spending a lot of time seeking out medical and scientific info on " how " to go raw, i found that even the most institutionally seasoned 'authorities' had a common thread: listen to your body, learn from your own experience. What's right for you may not be right for others...Enjoy every bit of the process. Per food shopping/sharing: I live in Columbia City and would love to go in on some organic fruits & veggies with you from Central Market, possibly alternating pick-ups every other week or something like this. Farmers' Markets are almost over and many of my garden plants passed with arrival of autumn- so, alas, i know i'll become more reliant on the 'store' again soon. Please let me know if this- the food shopping situation- is something you're interested in doing.
