Guest guest
jpt Tue May 22, 2001 4:40 pm Selected Myths of Raw Foods Hey all, The recent barrage of sensationalistic advertising arriving in my email inbox concerning the upcoming Portland Raw Foods Festival has inspired me to post this link. I personally have found that even though the raw foodist movement in general prides itself on being relatively enlightened and honest, there is still a lot (too much) blind belief present. Some raw fooders I have met tend to believe anything they are told if it falls in line with their particular stance on diet and health, and is made to sound reasonable. I have not always been not an exception to this. Unfortunately, not everything you hear is true, even from raw foodists, and one can be misled if one permits it. Please view this link: http://www.beyondveg.com/billings-t/selected-myths /selected-myths-1a.shtml I have also added the link to the Bookmarks section of this group on the website. SeattleRaw/links I suspect some of you who read this will find yourself being offended or find it to be very much against the grain of your conception of raw foods (I sure did). In my mind, this is a sign that one's mind is not as open as it could be; somebody with a completely open mind would never take offense or fear at reading something contrary to their existing beliefs, but would instead evaluate the material on an even footing with their existing knowledge, and learn from it one way or the other. I don't propose that everything in the article is accurate (though I think much of it is), but even just getting a contrasting view of what us raw fooders daily take for granted is very beneficial, I think. I would very much like to hear your thoughts on the material. joel
