I've listed a few highlights below. - We were granted the opportunity to submit a full application for the USDA Community Food Project Grant. We determined, after learning that we must have pledges in writing for this matching grant that we would hold-off until next year to submit a full application. We requested 200K over a two year period and realized that we would not have enough time to obtain written pledges for the matching 200K with only 5 weeks before the final submission date for the full grant. We are also pursing other grant options in the near future. -We have our first meeting scheduled for a potential retail location on H Street on May 24th. -We had our first large fundraiser at Vegetate, where we exceeded our expected turnout and fundraising. Thank you all who supported this effort! - We have been attending the Capitol Hill Flea Market at Eastern Market on various Saturdays. We will be attending the ANC6A, 6B and 6C meetings over the next few months to announce HSCM to the commissioners. - We will start a door to door outreach campaign in April which will last several months so we can cover most of the neighborhoods that would potentially shop at HSCM. - We have been working with Hogan and Hartson Law on a pro-bono basis on several items such as our bylaws, setting up a non-profit arm of HSCM and creating our member loan package. - We have created a Partner Package which is a handout that we will provide to potential business partners. We are also pursing local community partners and supporters. -We are planning to have a Family Oriented Fundraiser this summer, most likely on June 9th. Details will be posted on the and website in the near future. Thank you all for your support! Karine Bouis-Towe (HSCM - Project Manager) Bored stiff?
