Theyobserved that formula fed babies, at the age of 3 months, were secreting low levels of serum antibodies to bovineproteins contained in their formula. This criticallysignificant evidence was published in the August, 1994 issueof the Journal of Pediatrics, Allergy and Immunology. Fourmonths later...Researchers at the University of Palermo discovered thatconstipation symptoms returned to a controlled group ofinfants 48 to 72 hours after they were placed on a regimenof cow's milk proteins. Their scientific determination was that chronic constipation has an allergenic pathogenesis. This study was published in the January, 1995 issue of the Journal of Pediatrics. How do pediatricians miss these important studies whileattending medical school? One wonders if the dairy industry looks the other way when they are presented with such evidence. The infant suffers, and the mother is the last to know why.FDA believes that the above two studies are not possiblebecause, in theory, these powerful proteins are destroyed bydigestive processes. Message to FDA: Milk proteins survivedigestion. Doctors at the Department of Pediatrics, OdenseUniversity Hospital in Denmark noted that most formula fedinfants developed symptoms of allergic rejection to cow milkproteins before one month of age. The majority of infantstested had two or more symptoms. About 50-70 percentexperienced rashes or other skin symptoms, 50-60 percentgastrointestinal symptoms, and 20-30 percent respiratorysymptoms. The recommended therapy for constipation by theseresearchers was to avoid cow's milk and milk-based formula.Robert Cohenhttp://www.notmilk.comi4crob (AT) earthlink (DOT) net It's here!
