One point I neglected to mention about echinacea: be sure not to use it for more than 5 consecutive days since it boosts one's immunity, then loses its efficacy thereafter. Also be sure to drop it sublingually (under the tongue) for maximum potency. Your child may need to be trained to allow the drops to sit under his tongue for a few minutes while it quickly absorbs into the capillaries there, rather than swallowing it where the gastric enzymes would diminish its effect. He may also find the grain alcohol stronger than expected, but after a few doses, he'll easily adjust & feel the benefits faster than you'd ever get from allopathic drugs, ie. Benadryl, Nyquil, not to mention free of side effects. He should stop taking it for at least 5 days so the body can return to normalcy. If he needs it after 5 days off have passed, then he can use echinacea for another 5 days.

As for Breathe-Easy tea, the box advises to drink 1-2 cups in boiling water as needed, but not to exceed 8 cups in 24 hours. I usually drink 2 cups 2x/day, but only if I really need it, knowing an overdose of ma-huang can truly be dangerous. When used with discretion, it works beautifully. I'm currently following this entire aforementioned regimen myself to deal with the weather's effects on my respiratory issues. I started yesterday AM & expect to only need it through Monday night before bedtime.

Peace,

David

I solidly recommend, aside from raw vegan diet (vegan itself is crucial), echinacea in alcohol-distilled 20 drops, 3x/day, along with 1000 mg Vitamin C 3x/day. I also suggest Breathe-Easy tea from either Yogi or Traditional Medicinals, though one must be careful with ma-huang, the natural source of pseudoephedrine, which is technically a drug that stimulates and soothes the throat. I'm not sure medically if ma-huang is perfectly safe for an infant though, but the first 2 supplements I mentioned should work safely like a charm for him. May he have a speedy recovery.

any recipes for garlic syrup and/or natural decongestant?

Greetings,

My 9-month just came home from a 6-day stay at the hospital. He had pneumonia. He's feeling a lot better but is still filled with mucous and he's on antibiotics. I want to make a garlic syrup for him but all of the recipes I found contain honey. Any ideas? Also, looking for baby-friendly herbs that move mucous out of the body. He's still fully breastfed (no solids), so I'm getting mucousy foods out of my diet too and taking the herb mullein.
