He's feeling a lot better but is still filled with mucous and he's on antibiotics. I want to make a garlic syrup for him but all of the recipes I found contain honey. Any ideas? Also, looking for baby-friendly herbs that move mucous out of the body. Guest guest Posted February 16, 2007 Report Share Posted February 16, 2007 I solidly recommend, aside from raw vegan diet (vegan itself is crucial), echinacea in alcohol-distilled 20 drops, 3x/day, along with 1000 mg Vitamin C 3x/day. I also suggest Breathe-Easy tea from either Yogi or Traditional Medicinals, though one must be careful with ma-huang, the natural source of pseudoephedrine, which is technically a drug that stimulates and soothes the throat. I'm not sure medically if ma-huang is perfectly safe for an infant though, but the first 2 supplements I mentioned should work safely like a charm for him. May he have a speedy recovery. I was able to find white pine tea from a medicine man years ago when my daughter was a baby. It worked the best for Thelma to get rid of her congestion. I only used garlic oil as ear drops as needed for ear infections. I also used ginger poultices on the chest to eliminate congestion. I grated ginger and let it steep (not boil) for about 30 minutes than I strained it into a washcloth and put it on her chest. If it was too hot I put my hand under it. I covered it with extra towels to let the steam penetrate. I also steamed up our tiny bathroom and sat in there with Thelma as I was using the poulstice. But the white pine tea really helped.
