Guest guest
Living Nutritione-Group DigestJanuary 3, 2007 IN MEMORY OFJASMIN CLOWER A dear friend of many, dynamic raw food entrepreneur, sprout supplier, organic farmer and former Rawstock/Raw Passion food supplier, Jasmin Clower, is gone. I’m profoundly sad to write this. I and surely many others thought Jasmin would be around for another 100 years and that the nature spirits would keep her safe.A few days ago, a wind storm in Marin County, CA blew over an oak tree next to her bedroom while she slept and her life was suddenly ended.Jasmin was in the Raw Food Path Directory in the late 1980s when I first moved out here, and she was the first Natural Hygiene enthusiast I contacted. We connected at many raw potlucks and farmer's markets where she worked around San Francisco, Marin and Sonoma Counties over the years. She was on a panel of speakers along with Roe Gallo and others at the very first raw food expo at Fort Mason in SF in the mid-1990s. She did a stellar job of getting superb ripe fruits for 2 Rawstocks, for which many are forever indebted. I can still taste the divinely creamy Blenheim apricots at Macdonald's Farm, of which Doug Graham and I each ate at least 40. Her dedication to everything she did, her strength and her high spirit were most admirable. And Jasmin's fiery passion for truth and raw food health was unforgettable. She embodied goodness and was very industrious and outspoken. She had no fears and it seemed nothing could stop her from doing good things for people, and she did plenty as a well-known spiritually-oriented farmer and organic food supplier around Marin County and a devoted mother to her son. I don't ever remember her being even a slight bit under the weather. Jasmin was vibrantly alive and fit all the time. It's mind boggling that such an active, nature-worshipping person and green organic farmer was taken by a living oak tree. Perhaps there is a lesson for us to contemplate...the safeness of living in a home with adjacent large trees...stormy weather is treacherous in many ways and nature is not always our kind ally.I'll miss Jasmin and many many friends will too. -Dave Klein MEMORIAL SERVICEFORJASMIN CLOWER This coming Sunday, January 7th, SF LiFE will pay tribute to Jasmin Clower with a small memorial service held at 11:00 at our regular Sunday potluck meeting place.
