Guest guest
Hi everyone, I am doing 100 percent raw with a group out here in Baltimore until Dec.21 It was organized through the Yabba Pot, a vegan restaurant on St. Paul St. I am doing a lot of green drinks and having weekly potlucks, even doing a presentation about the healing power of greens on Tuesday at 6:30pm. I had a potluck last night and talked warmly with some folks about the benefit of raw vegan foods, particularly greens. Many shared stories of going back and forth to raw foods and the value of knowing more about how their body reacted to different foods. A general awareness envelopes a room when raw foodists are present. The healing energy is everywhere. It really blows my mind everytime I come back to the amazing healing power of nature. Raw vegan foods bring a heightened awareness that really inspires me. I like to say, " A little good goes a long way. A lot of good works miracles. " The challenge is to open up to doing a lot of good for the body, the mind, and the environment. Doing a lot of good can work miracles. Doing a lot of good can forever change your perspective. An intuitive once told me that " healing is changing belief patterns, as opposed to simply feeding someone to make them feel better. " Feeding yourself well is only the beginning. The real shift is in awareness. Healing takes place when the perspective completely changes. We have to help the process along don't we? What better way than with healing foods and the infinite power of nature at your side? There is a magnetic pull to simply " get away with " whatever we can. The body continues on living even as we make bad choices. It heals itself over and over again. We are deceived into thinking that things are fine because our bodies keep the system running for us. Our bodies do a lot to protect us from freaking out. We then become desensitized to the harm we are doing. We make practical and easy decisions in the short term and we try to do our best. After all, doing a little good does help a lot. The body slowly slowly listens to the message and becomes less and less like the body we know it to be or would like it to be. Like a child who gets minimal attention, we get by and make our own way somehow. There is also a magnetic pull to be the best that we can be. Liberation is about having choices and deciding for ourselves. There are so many temptations and so many sensual delights out there pulling us this way and that. Advertisements are everywhere. Corporate food machines selling us unhealthy products designed to taste good. All these factors test our spirits, tax our bodies, and burden our minds, especially in an urban environment. When we do a lot of good, we see miracles unfold. What to do with all this energy? What to do with all this inspiration? Loving life, finding joy, feeling compassion, doing a good job, or just being peaceful and silent--a bunch of cool options make themselves known. Nurturing the child within we see it flourish and grow strong. " A little good goes a long way. A lot of good works miracles. " A lot of what you might ask? Good thoughts, joy, greens, raw foods, effort, music, dancing, creating, compassion, gratitude, expression, discussion, elation, activity, movement, stillness. It's all there for the taking. I keep coming back to the power of the mind in all of this. Feeling good about choices. Feeling good about the things we choose. What an amazing gift that we can choose! I think feeling good about choices is almost more important than the choices themselves. Being aware of how things fit together for you. Knowing what's true for you now. What a great ability we all share! Knowing the healing benefits of certain foods, and customizing your own unique approach to health is a creative task. There is an art to enjoying life and getting the most out of it while giving back to others. Getting the most out of nature and giving back. Getting and giving. Feeling compassion without needing to alter life. Creating quality without altering nature. Helping nature along without disrupting its cycles. It like the same stories are everywhere. The cycles are all the same for everyone, we are just all on different sides of it. The inner, the outer, the philosophical, the spiritual, the drama of life. Phases, seasons, ups and downs, the sun and moon, the body, the tides, the rains, the climate, emotions. The whole thing boils down to what we think and what we eat and how we relate to nature and each other. It totally blows my mind. It is an exciting time to be alive. Everything is shifting at once, yet you can still find yourself on a mountain top with nobody around. You can still be the only voice by the sea in this crazy world.
