Guest guest
***Greetings Members, although Anne did leave the group I am releasing this message in case someone else is interested in this valuable information.*** Good Health to you, Elaine. ###################################################################### Hi Anne, Sorry for not responding. Actually just saw your message a day or two ago. Because I consider myself new to raw, I don't usually answer too many questions here. I'm mainly here to read and learn from that. Regarding your blender, I really think that your blender can make smoothies. If mine can (about $20 from kmart or something to that effect), then I'm sure that yours can too! What I do is wash, de- stem, and break up my greens (mostly kale...between 3 & 5 large leaves depending on how much I want at the time) and put them into the blender with about 8-10 oz of water. I blend these until broken down (I guess about 20-30 secs) and then I add my fruit...banana, kiwi, etc. Sometimes I also add 1 or 2 dates for sweetness. Then I blend again until smooth, usually another 20-30 secs. Also, I've gotten to a point where I like my smoothies dark green like spinach, so I try not to add too much water. When I first started drinking them I added enough water to get it the color of kiwi, but that's too diluted for me now. Other than that, I can't think of anything else except maybe using that time to do a juice or smoothie fast. This would probably be good anyway since they are putting foreign substances and anesthesias into your body. Also, I'm not sure how much info you have already, so forgive me if I'm being too elementary, but there is a website called www.living- foods.com. There are a million recipes there! You could look up drinks and soups and probably end up eating just as well as you if you were chewing foods! In the morning, maybe you could have oatmeal, but grind the oats prior to adding the liquid so that it's smooth. Oh, and another thing that might keep you from feeling too bad about not being able to chew is to have some healthy sweets! Make yourself a lemon or chocolate pudding with avocados! I made a lemon pudding a couple of months ago (forgot the recipe), and I ended up turning it into a pie because I made so much. But it was sooo good! It was something like 2 ripe avocados, a few lemons (juice and pulp), a couple of dates for sweetness and I believe that's it. I blended it in a blender (my cuisonart is the Jr. version) and it took all of 5 minutes to prepare. I'm sorry, I'm not into recipes. I like to wing it and see what I come up with. I don't think you should leave the group. Sometimes people get busy and the ones who would usually answer you are just unavailable for a minute. Also, I think that sometimes people sit back and wait for someone else to answer and in the meantime you might slip through the cracks a little, but it's definitely not personal. Thanks for reaching out, and I hope that you stay and continue to benefit from whatever info is shared here. We all need as many sources of raw food information as possible. This is one of them. Don't remove yourself from information that could be very valuable to you at some point. You never know what topic here will be exactly what you needed to know! All the best to you, S~~ , " AH " <abrit38 wrote: > > Very disappointing to receive no input or support re my message > requesting help, at least with ideas on what to eat. Guest guest
Hi Anne, Eat ripe melons and blended fruits or fruit smoothies, as simple as possible, and as watery as you need. Sweet fruits (bananas, dates ,figs, apricots, etc.) are best, as they are lowest in acids and will not irritate your mouth. Organic is best, of course. Forget about everything else until you heal sufficiently. As for the procedure, you don't provide much background, difficult to comment. But I can certainly empathize with your concern and fear, sounds like a big deal. Do you have some kind of companionship, one or more people willing to spend time, run a few errands for a few days, just "hang out" with you? I know that would help, if I were in similar shoes. Anyway, have to have a procedure called crown lengthening done, an unpleasant procedure to expose more tooth so that new crown has better base. This time having it done on a tooth each side of mouth which will leave me with no side to chew on for a week or two. Unfortunately I never got a vitamix so don't have that to use. I do have my greenlife juicer (which I use daily). I have a good blender but I don't think its going to do green smoothies. Any ideas of soft food that I can eat that will be healing and nutritious? I am also extremely anxious about this procedure but in order to save my teeth I know i must have it. Thanks for any help anne brit y
