Organic products are making their way into the

mainstream shopping experience. Target and SuperTarget

stores have started introducing organic products

recently in an attempt to grow sales to customers

looking for healthier, organic products to purchase.

The produce sections of SuperTarget stores are now

USDA Organic certified. Organic produce items such as

strawberries, apples, bananas and other fruits and

vegetables are now becoming mainstays in the produce

sections of stores nationwide.

By becoming certified organic by the USDA, Target is

showing that it can meet specific customer product

requests for healthier foods with organic origins

while still providing a decent price and selection.

Customers will see clear indications on organic

produce and other organic products that indicate USDA

Organic certification, and that the products are grown

and maintained from vendor to customer with USDA

Organic standards.

The Archer Farms brand, which is made exclusively for

Target and SuperTarget stores, features affordable

products from whole-grain pizzas, pastas and complete

dinners to dairy products, fruit strips and juices.

Dr. Susan Mitchell, registered dietician and

SuperTarget health and nutrition expert, says, " People

want to know more about organic products and where to

best spend their money on them...Target provides their

guests with product choices for the whole family;

products that enhance their lives in an affordable and

accessible way. "

With a recent Harris Interactive study concluding that

consumers are confused about how to shop for organic

foods, 34 percent of consumers surveyed believed that

organic foods are superior to non-organic foods.

However, nearly 61 percent of surveyed customers want

to be better informed why they should spend more for

organic products over non-organic products.
