Solstice Observation: On Tuesday, June 20th we will be having a meditative preparation at 5833 Cherrywood Terrace # 303, Greenbelt, MD. On the Solstice, Wednesday, June 21st at 6 am we will hold a prayer as well as a Nature and Mineral Elements service at Greenbelt Park; 6565 Greenbelt Road, Greenbelt, MD (301.344.3948 for directions or assistance. You are welcome to stay overnight at Amensa's place (5833 Cherrywood Terrace # 303. Or you may just come for the morning service; if you choose to join the group in the morning, please arrive at 5833 Cherrywood Terrace # 303 by 5:30 AM. Please contact Amensa (by Monday at 5 pm) to confirm your interest in attending. phone: 301.792.0225 email: amensa In Preparation: In order to prepare for the experience, we observe a period of fasting and detoxification. The Solstice and Equinox are great times to fast, detox, and realign yourself with the natural rhythms of the earth. We also fast to support our spiritual awakening and the solar power within our bodies. During this Summer solstice it is suggested to participate in a process of awakening. For seven days we are implementing a 7-day solstice diet from June 18th to the 24th. On Saturday, 17 June, you can access the solstice observation guideline docuement with resources and guidance on the internet: http://www.houseofngolo.com/summersolstice.htm In order to participate, we ask that you prepare yourself with, at minimum the following dietary recommendations. General Dietary Guidance: 6/18 – 6/24: eat natural, freshly prepared food, primarily fruits and vegetables, beverages – drink water and pure juices (freshly juiced is best); seek to eliminate processed foods (which can interfere with your ability to participate and perceive all the solstice observation has to offer) 6/18: eat primarily fruits and vegetables, cooked whole grains; reduce or eliminate added sugar, processed carbohydrates (wheat products in a bag or box), starches, soy/tofu, and meat 6/19: begin introducing more raw vegetables and fruits; begin reducing whole grain carbohydrates, eliminate animal, soy/tofu products and sugar 6/20: eat freshly prepared, cooked or raw vegetables and fruits, drink water and pure juices (freshly juiced is best); eliminate grain products, avoid eating or drinking after 8 pm 6/21: before the morning solstice observation, do not eat and avoid drinking anything (even water) in order to ensure that the digestive tract is at rest after the morning solstice observation, eat raw vegetables and fruits, drink water and freshly prepared, pure juices 6/22: after eating raw food, slowly begin to reintroduce cooked vegetables first, continue eating raw vegetables and fruits, and freshly prepared juices 6/23: gently begin reintroducing simple cooked foods including cooked whole grains in addition to vegetables and fruits 6/24: if applicable, begin reintroducing only high quality, organic, freshly prepared animal products (; continue to avoid / minimize added sugar, processed foods, soy/tofu and animal products to encourage and maintain the cleansing and positive health effects of eating raw food) Thank you so much for your interest in and participation with the DC Dagara Village Community.
