Greetings: Food for ThoughtRobert Cohen <notmilk wrote: notmilk From: "Robert Cohen" <notmilkFri, 24 Feb 2006 13:07:52 -0000NOTMILK - Absurdly Humorous Dairy Lie Absurdly Humorous Dairy LieToday's Notmilk column is guaranteed to strike you, asit did me, as the funniest and most pathetic exampleof deceit in the history of propaganda. Trust me.This one should win the "A for Absurdity" award. When American planes were bombing Berlin in 1945, shortlybefore the end of the second World War, Hitler's "ministerof enlightenment" (Joesph Goebbels) convinced the citiens of his nation that German planes had done so in error. Throughout history, the world has witnessed history repeatingitself through brilliant

manipulation of the media by thosewith ulterior motives. The dairy industry deceives two groups of people in twodifferent ways. The American public has been bombarded with milk mustache ads, while at the same time select groups of scientists have been the recipients of hundreds of millions of dollars in the form of research support so that biased studies can be marketed to convince (brainwash) consumers that cow's milk is the perfect food for humans.Imagine another group attempting to do that today withdog milk? Would you buy it?The second group of deceived folk are the dairymen. With all of the bad news about milk in the form of real scientific studies published in peer-reviewed scientificjournals coupled with extremely low cash flow for dairyfarmers (resulting from historically low milk prices due to overproduction due to bovine growth hormone use and decreased milk demand), dairymen are depressed,

disgusted, and in extreme denial.Hoard's Dairyman is a magazine d to by just aboutevery dairy farmer and milk processor in America. Hoard'sdescribes itself as "The National Dairy Farm Magazine."At times, Hoard's acts like an out of control collegefootball cheerleader with big yellow pom poms. This isone of those times.Page 75 of the February 10, 2006 issue of Hoard's containsthis story:"Oak Trees Pollute More Than Dairy Cows"Despite the fact that over ten million dairy cows each add50 pounds of urine every day to America's fields and streams...despite the fact that their daily dumpings of excrement could fill a train's freight cars from here to Mars and back again...despite the fact that bovine flatulence has been identifiedas a primary cause of global warming...the dairy industryhas the temerity to blame global pollution on oak trees.Hoard's writes:"Trees and plants emit far

more volatile organic compoundsthan dairy cows do...satellite photos of polluted smogcrossing the Pacific Ocean and settling in the valley is more to blame than its dairy industry." (Note from the Notmilkman...polluted smog, as opposed to clean smog? It must come from that dirty group of islands called Hawaii.)All that I can conclude from the Hoard's article is that in order to be a good citizen, we must never again"hug a tree." As a matter of practice, we are obligated todo just the opposite. Drastic measures must be taken in drastic times. In order to save planet earth we must work together. Cut down a tree today, for the sake of the environment.Credit must be given to Hoard's for reporting this shockingnew information.hoards Please ask your local newspaper's science editor to reviewHoard's claim regarding those dirty and polluting oaks.Robert
