Guest guest Posted January 12, 2006 Report Share Posted January 12, 2006 I haven't personally used ear candles, but when I lived in NY, some of my vegan friends had used them periodically for earwax with apparently great success. In my situation, I've used homeopathic Ear Wax Relief drops from Similisan, which I found very effective in loosening wax before I used a rubber syringe 4 days later to flush out remaining debris. (Many Similisan products are now available in mainstream pharmacies, such as CVS and Target.) I'm sure it's not a perfect solution, but it made a big difference after a nurse at my workplace told me I had major buildup of earwax in both ears. This was no surprise to me because it's been a chronic problem for me for over a decade, possibly hereditary from my father who also has the same problem. I'm sure an appointment with my otolaryngologist would be a major improvement to remove much more wax than the homeopathic drops alone. I'd consider using ear candles if I was desperate AND had a partner to help me so I wouldn't risk burning myself since I've never done it before. If so, what did you think of this treatment?Also, I've heard mixed reviews on Ear Candling. I would like to get the perspective of you raw foodists out there who have tried this treatment.
