First, when you factor tolls going and returning plus petro it can become more than anticipated. The chinatown buses do let you place belongings under the coach to the best of my knowledge. A brother I know, Baba Amadou from Sierra Leone, has brung huge boxes of canal street wholesale bounty back by these means. This is not counting the overhead space on the inner coach.
