Guest guest
In response to reports of weight loss as high as 5 pounds in one day, I just want to chime in with some science here. A pound of weight contains about 3600 calories of energy. The average body requires about 2000 calories per day to sustain itself in normal activity and function. Doing the math, even if one were to fast completely, the deficit would be less than a pound per day. If you dramatically increased physical activity too, you could possibly approach that, but I wouldn't advise it. A healthy rate of weight loss is about 2lbs per week. When the scale reads very low, the change is artificial. It is because you are storing less food in your digestive system, or because you have less water in your body tissue. Most weight fluctuation is based on water and food stored in the body at the time of weighing. Most likely, your weight will restabilize. Weighing yourself can help determine if you are consuming enough fluids (more are required during cleansing), but having clearish urine is an even better indicator. Weighing daily is not necessarily helpful (and can be discouraging or falsely encouraging) due to these fluctuations, but weighing weekly can be help ensure you are losing at a safe rate, or staying stable if you don't want to lose weight. Be sure to weigh yourself at the same time of day and under the same conditions each time for consistency. If anyone has more specific questions about this, please let me know. , Paula Wood <wolfmother1> wrote: > > This sounds like you are having cleansing reactions. Each time you ingest a processed junk food or cooked food, you may end up feeling better, because these foods stop the body from detoxing. A lot of people stop eating a diet of live foods becuase of this. They think live foods are making them sick, because they feel better when they eat cooked. > > I always recommend people start an intestinal cleanse the same time they start on a diet of live foods. Your choice, of course! Perhaps you could replace it with a vegetable juice. Nice combos for me are: Carrot and Ginger; Celery, Apple, Ginger, Lemon; Celery, Kale, Apple; Apple, Cucumber, and basil or mint > > Are you having plenty of bowel movements, at least one for every meal you eat? > > I see you are eating a lot of nuts. Are you soaking them first to release the enzymes that are non digestible to us humans? Do you have a blender or food processor? You can make pate's out of nuts. I always find that pate's digest easier - perhaps since the machine has done so much of the breaking down for us. They are REALLY yummy, too!! > > Lastly, get as much of the good stuff into your body as possible. Most people are largely depleted of organic minerals.
