Happy Holidays (Christmass, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa)

Dear Friends,We are approaching major holidays for people of all faiths, and what we all have in common for this season, is excessive eating and drinking. Flu season is indeed overeating season, and compromised immune system season. We are so blessed to have the knowledge of raw food, and by keeping the following guidelines, can avoid joining the aching and suffering masses this time of the year.Here is what we find helpful to stay away from and avoid food traps:1. Never leave home hungry2. Take food with you if you are going to be away fro more than 2 hours3. If invited to a party/holiday meal, ask for permission, and bring a raw dish4. Don’t make a big deal of your dish being raw, and bring items that can look cooked, or traditionally being eaten raw (no Durians and Green Soups).5. Don not convince yourself that you can eat the bad food just once. Addictions come back with a vengeance. Our friend and publicist, Anne Wainscott-Sargent just published a touching book, "A Breath Away: Daughters Remember Mothers Lost to Smoking" (Acacia Publishing, Phoenix, Ariz.), profiles 19 women, who began smoking young and who all died prematurely in their 60s or younger from smoking-related illnesses, chief among them lung cancer. Lung cancer often referred to as the "invisible disease" because it is the least talked about and least funded of all major cancers, is increasingly becoming a woman's disease with women now accounting for nearly half of all new lung cancer cases. Among the stories in the book, is a chapter about Jackie Graff R.N. B.S.N and her Mother, Vonice who died of breast cancer at the age of 52. It will consist of one Tuesday evening class for 9 weeks; this class has been created by "Hallelujah Acres". It will take you step by step into a journey to health and vibrant living. Your progress will be monitored.
