Dear sweet Nancy!

You will not be banished from this group! You belong

here with us. We are truly One.

I understand where you are coming from and respect how

you see the world. I also understand and respect what

Lynda says about the " Trail of Tears feel " this entire

situation has regarding the majority of Katrina

survivors.

I see our government commit unspeakable acts against

its citizens and in the same breath, spin the news so

we are not sure of what we thought we saw.

The super rich Rae speaks of are not the rich or

really really wealthy. The super rich are a small

contingent of people who live in compounds far away

from their nearest neighbor, never fly on commercial

flights, and are far removed from anything that

affects society at large. These people are not listed

on Forbes either.

I believe our President and his cronies have true

disdain for the poor. Who are the poor? Those who are

not the super rich.

Barbara Bush let a glimpse of this disdain surface by

declaring that what she was hearing about " them "

wanting to stay in Texas because of the wonder Texan

hospitality was scary, but that they are much better

off now since they were unprivileged anyway. She

honestly believes that being relocated with only the

clothes on your back and being ripped from everything

you have ever known was " working out very well for

them now. "

As I write this, I have to take a deep breath and

reflect on the magnitude of Mrs. Bush's statement. I

can't even wrap my mind around the idea that a thought

like that even popped into her head. Then again, I

have to remind myself that the super rich are very

different from regular folk.

Many of my friends who voted for our President have

called me, lips quivering, holding in tears, beyond

disgusted by the obvious lack of love for " the ones

left behind " both black and white. Historically, a

special disdain has been held for the darker

complected among us - and that is evident now. That's

what you are picking up. What many have felt for so

long and thought to be true has to come light for the

world to see and it hurts.

I totally agree that God's Love is the answer to

turning things around. It's stronger than anything and

cannot be denied. Let's send that out to everyone and

ourselves to keep our hearts from becoming hardened.

Dick Gregory is right when he says to drop the anger

and become vigilant and aware.

Love you Nancy!
