However I do come into DC once a week, I saw a request for driver on the weekend. Next weekend the 17th. I am trying to find out if they will except me . Perhaps you could do this also .I am an excellent driver and I am sure I can do that job. Drive to New Orleans ?? Dr.Amen and my friend Tiombe have assured me I can take a baby . I have inquired at a church. I have decided to take two if I am approved. So lets see what happens. Perhaps you have clothing , soap . If I were stuck in that postion I would like to have a book to read. I think toys for children would be welcomed too. I am not sure yet if I will make your pot luck as I will have a workshop ; but would like to. You have always been supportive. Guest guest Posted September 8, 2005 Report Share Posted September 8, 2005 Dear Lynda, Although I'm physically unable to volunteer for rescuees at the DC Armory from the wake of Hurricane Katrina, as much as I'd sincerely love to do so, due to my work schedule, I want to offer you and all your assistants my warmest commendations. You are doing yeoman's work, especially by giving them your gourmet meals from your amazing kitchen. I work f/t in the federal gov't in downtown Baltimore, so that volunteer option doesn't seem feasible for me unfortunately. If I can ever help your efforts toward these ends on weekends, please let me know. Despite the outrageous price of gas, I'm willing to sometimes drive 45-50 miles to the DC metro just to help victims (human and nonhuman alike) of such catastrophes as I've done in the past in other venues. If anyone is driving to the DC Armory (I don't have a car) and you'd be willing to pick up the books please let me know. I guess I could MAIL the books there. Does anyone have the name of a contact person? I want to make sure that the books get to the kids and that they don't sit in an office somewhere.
