Live Smart™ by " Living Compassionately: How Choosing a Vegan Diet

Helps Create a Kinder World " with Erika Meier, Executive Director

of Compassion Over Killing

Ms. Meier spent three years as an Animal Control Officer for the

Washington Humane Society (WHS) in Washington, DC rescuing sick,

injured, and homeless animals as well as enforcing animal protection

laws. Prior to working for WHS, she worked in PETA's (People for the

Ethical Treatment of Animals) Research, Investigations, and Rescue

Department. Ms. Meier, with a decade of animal advocacy and proven

leadership, was appointed Executive Director of Compassion Over

Killing (COK) in January 2005.

COK works to end animal abuse by focusing on cruelty to animals in

agriculture and promotes vegan eating as a way to build a kinder

world for all of us, both human and nonhuman. COK's undercover

investigations inside factory farms have been featured in various

newspapers, including the New York Times and the Washington Post.
