The Bahá'í Faith's perspective of the world's religions,

and the individual's contribution to a peaceful society:

Bahá'u'lláh, the Founder of the Bahá'í Faith, teaches that the

world's religions have common central truths that come from the same

God, and, therefore, religion is fundamentally one. The distinction

in the world's religions is apparent in the social teachings which

are conducive to addressing the spiritual and social needs of

humankind in the time period in which the Prophet appears.

Recognizing the oneness of religion and according freedom of religion

to all is a few of several principles that are prerequisites to

establishing peace on earth.

The responsibility of the individual is to independently seek the

truth, with an unbiased mind, using their own innate intellectual

capacities. The bases of one's decision should be through the

inquiry of science and religion, the two pillars of knowledge, to

arrive at a harmonious and logical conclusion. Once an individual

has studied their spiritual and scientific subjects that are

conducive to the healthy advancement of society, the onus is on the

person to act in accordance to the teachings of their Faith, and to

produce goods works in their profession. Bahá'u'lláh says:

" O SON OF MY HANDMAID! Guidance hath ever been given by words, and

now it is given by deeds. Every one must show forth deeds that are

pure and holy, for words are the property of all alike, whereas such

deeds as these belong only to Our loved ones. Strive then with heart

and soul to distinguish yourselves by your deeds. In this wise We

counsel you in this holy and resplendent tablet. "

[bahá'u'lláh, The Hidden Words, No. P76.]
