1. Letter From The Editors

 

It has been over a month since we moved into our new place in Malibu and we are

already feeling at home. Our newborn garden is taking shape, we planted our

first trees, and the deep peace of our canyon makes it hard for us to leave and

join " the rest of the world. " We are very happy to have the opportunity to

offer GeneFit Nutrition within this environment, which is in no way

sophisticated, but nonetheless allows a simple, yet profound experience for our

guests.

 

Thanks to the sponsorship of one of our guests last month, the importation of

non-chemically treated and non-irradiated fresh Durian--a project we had

envisioned years ago--finally becomes reality. We can't wait to share this

wonderful fruit with all of you. GeneFit Nutrition is a celebration of the

extraordinary tastes nature provides and what better fruit than Durian could be

the motivator to come together and party (see details below).

 

Also, here at our new place, we have the means to shade-dry products, such as

nuts. Fall is the nut season and with our newly created Purefood Network, we

2. NEW! For the first time in the US: Direct Import of Four Varieties of

non-chemically treated, non-irradiated, non-frozen Durian

 

Durian is a fruit with quite a controversial reputation in the western world.

Durian, also called " stink fruit, " will make some run away, while others will

travel half around the world to eat it. So, what is it about this fruit that

triggers these extreme responses? Over the years, we've come to the conclusion

that Durian is such a powerful cleansing tool that for most people, the smell

aversion is proportionate to the level of intoxification in the body. Once given

the opportunity to cleanse their systems, peoples' smells and tastes will change

from an onion-cheeselike smell/taste to eventually the dreamiest, creamiest and

sweetest smelling dessert anybody could imagine. Once one reaches this ultimate

level, the feeling of euphoria and profound satisfaction one can experience is

mind-blowing... By the way our closest ancestors, the chimpanzees and the

bonobos, also " go crazy " for this fruit!

 

Durian has been imported to the US for many years, but unfortunately, it has

always been heavily treated with chemicals, irradiated and too often

frozen...until now. For the first time in history —and this is not an

exaggeration— there will be Durian, shipped fresh without chemicals or

irradiation and made available in the US through GeneFit Nutrition. All fruits

are carefully selected for quality by true Durian experts onsite in Thailand. In

order to lower the cost of shipping, we are solely importing and shipping the

flesh without the shell, which is less than 1/3 of the weight of the entire

fruit. Thanks to the years of experience of our contact in Thailand, the fresh

flesh is shipped under constant refrigeration and will last for about 1 week

after arrival. As the flesh is taken out of the fruit in Thailand, only perfect

fruits will be shipped. Thus, we avoid the risk factor of shipping Durian that

simply has no taste or was harvested too early.

 

To make sure everybody will profit from this wonderful fruit, we intend to

distribute the Durian as soon as we receive it from the airport.

 

a. How can I get my Durian?

- You can pick-up your Durian at our Durian Party Saturday September 11th in

Malibu (see below for the schedule of the day and location). Call us for

- You can meet us at the Ocean Park and Main Street Farmer's Market on Sunday

September, 12, 2004, in Santa Monica. Antje and Roman will be selling Durian out

of their green van at the ZJ laundromat parking, across the street from the

music/pony ride area on Main Street. Call our cell phone for directions at (310)

- You can come to the Durian party at Juliano's Raw Restaurant located at the

corner of 6th and Broadway in Santa Monica, Sunday September 12th starting at 6

pm. Call the restaurant for directions at (310) 587-1552.

 

Due to the extended custom clearance time, we will sell the first shipment

locally. We intend to ship nationally with our second shipment, which will be at

the end of September. You can have your Durian shipped overnight, wherever you

are in the US...just in time for that special craving!

 

 

b. How much will it cost?

Thanks to our unique shipping method, we are able to offer our truly natural

Durian at a price close to what you would pay for fresh

chemically-treated/irradiated Durian in a Thai store in LA:

- $15/lb. of flesh only (equals $4.30/ lb for entire fruit). $13/lb., special

price at our party!

- $130/10 lbs of flesh only (equals $3.70 /lb for entire fruit)

c. What kind of varieties do you offer?

We offer four highly distinct flavors: Gradoom, Morn Thong, Khan Yao and Kop.

 

 

d. Can I reserve my portion up front?

3. EXCEPTIONAL EVENT: Do Not Miss Our First Durian Party on September 11th in

Malibu.

 

What better way to taste our four different varieties than to come to our party

in Malibu. Enjoy the most delicious fruits in the world while relaxing on our

12-acre mountainscape, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. To make it worth your

trip, we put a little program together for the day:

 

- 10 am TriYoga:

Tina is teaching a gentle class based on a method called TriYoga. No prior

experience is required to enjoy this yoga, which is a wonderful flow of simple

movements. Bring your own yoga mat and an outdoor blanket, we will be gathering

under the trees, breathing fresh mountain air...

 

- 12 pm Durian Lunch Party

At first we wanted to offer a party with unlimited Durian for a flat fee, but

Durian consumption goes from a few bites for beginners to several pounds for

certain Durian-eating pros, so to make it fair, we will offer unlimited Durian

flesh at a party discount price of $ 13/lb. On average, it takes about two

pounds of Durian flesh to be fully satisfied.

 

- 2 pm GeneFit Nutrition Intro with Roman and Antje

Genefit Nutrition is the rawfood diet where no fancy recipes are necessary to

experience the highest levels of eating pleasure. Listen to Roman and Antje and

you will understand why.

 

There is no charge for the Yoga class or the Intro talk, however donations are

After receiving numerous phone calls over the past year from people requesting

the Purefood Network, we are proud to announce that it is finally online at

first food items will officially be available next week.

5. A GeneFit Nutrition Retreat Testimonial

 

When I first arrived for a three-week stay with Roman and Antje to practice

Genefit Nutrition, I was really not feeling very well. Here are some of the

things that were bothering me most:

 

Every night when I went to sleep, my stomach was in distress, and sleeping was

difficult because of the discomfort. Each morning, the pain and discomfort in

my stomach would wake me.
