Guest guest
Elaine, all the fruits you mentioned sound wonderful. I am not used to these fruits how do you know when they are ripe? I ask this because I was in N.Y. and saw Jackfruit I wanted to get it but had no idea which one was ripe. There was such a wide color gradient between the them. I asked the store clerk but he was of no help. Any help for a newbie? wrote:

Guest guest
Use the force, Yolanda. Trust your nose. If it smells like food and feels like it is edible, it is. It should give to gentle pressure. Of course, some fruits are softer than others. Make love to the fruit; kiss, touch and rub it. Then you will know. Peace. Guest guest
While picking out some fruit in Canada (Lychees and jackfriut) The vendor decided to just grab a bunch and put them in my bag (actually he became the no longer vendor, lol). Like Denzel stated connect w/the fruit. I've been eating jackfruit and Lychees for the past two weeks and still not done. Although not always organic, many of the ethnic markets have a wide variety of tropical fruits. I'll be back in the tropics in two weeks so we'll be tree climbing again. peace, Mark
