Guest guest
Hi! My name is Elise. My family and I have recently moved to Montgomery Co. I am looking to make big changes in my eating habits! I have done therapeautic fasts with raw juices and foods, and have eaten raw for short periods of time. I felt soooo amazing when doing this, I really want to go raw, but need some support. Some of it is me, I'm not sure what the resistance is about, except that there are some cooked foods that I adore. But, I have a feeling that, like the other bad foods that I ahve deleted from my diet, once I sytart reaping the rewards of improved health, energy, spirituality, etc, that stuff might start to sound gross to me. Some of the problem is also with my family. Actually, I think my kids would be into it, as long as they could have cooked food at their friend's houses and social occasions, but DH is a big cheese and bread freak! And he wonders why he always had problems pooping...until he started eating salad everyday!!! Mind you it is usually a Caesar's (gotta have that bread and cheese! <grumble>) Actually, it all makes sense to him intellectually, it is the emotional-culinary part that is tripping him up. So, I guess what I would love is for anyone who has those really, really awesome recipies that make even die-hard cooked food lovers say "Wow! this is DELICIOUS!!" and then proceedto eat the entire dish, I would greatly appreciate it if you could send them my way! Has anyone else out there gone raw while dealing with reluctant SO's and/or kids? How did you deal? I really don't want to have to make a bunch of different things for dinner as it is a huge drag. Do you think it is better to go gradually or cold turkey? I've thought about starting with desserts and replacing soymilk with nut milk at breakfast. I already have them eating lots of raw fruits at breakfast and have tried getting them to do raw nut butters for apples, but they are really into the roasted ones. I also have some questions about foods themselves. Is nutritional yeast considered a living food? What about sashimi and raw cheeses? I'm really not trying to be cheeky. I want to know if these foods have any real value. I've been getting raw cheese for DH thinking that it was superior to the pasteurized kind. But, if it isn't I'd rather not waste my money, as they are quite expensive. OK, this intro has gone on long enough! But, one more thing-my friend Linda Wooliever is the one who told me about this group (<sniff, sniff> so sad to see her go!). She told me that an awesome woman named Linda Carter has some knock-out recipies. I'd LOVE to hear from her! Looking forward to being part of this group! Bright Blessings, Elise
